2.9 to 4.0 swap

I been reading tons of threads about doing the 4.0 swap since my 1986 Ranger's 2.9 has 200,000 miles on it and the trans once again hadsdied Imok with the wiring and what not but seems like everyone sawps over the dash for the 91-94 Explorer/Ranger but I want to retain the factory 86 dash to keep it stock looking and it just seems like way to much work to so can I do this with out problems ?

You can Swap the engine bay harness and do some re-pinning to make your gauges work. Get a EVTM for your truck and one for the donor, that will have all the wiring diagrams you need. They are cheap on ebay.
