2 inch body lift

I am about to get my 4" lift put on my 97 explorer.(hopely next month. If I add a 2" body lift will it be a big difference. I am goning to get 33x12.50's on it will this accommidate them better. How hard is the body lift to put on? Is it better to buy a 2" or 3" body lift. Which one would be a better buy. And also be more useful. Really need you all guys that have these lifts to help me.

I seem to be in the same plight. Feel free to correct me if the following statements are inaccurate.

I believe that a 2" body lift is much easier and cheaper in the long run to install. You don't need steering/shifter extensions or have to disassemble other parts of the truck for the install. Your clearance will definately improve, but your suspension performance will not. In my opinion, a 2" lift combines function and economy. You also don't have to fabricate bumper brackets with the smaller lift. They come in the kit. Any thoughts?

Your'e right. about the only body mods you have to make with the Performance 2" is the bumper and they supply brackets (unless you have a custom winch mount? brushguard like I do).

Any more body lift and you get into many problems like the steering shaft you mentioned (most folks then go to the Flaming River adjustable). Wiring, hoses, etc also become a problem as the leads aren't long enough to stretch any further.

I'm able to run 33 KO's with no body rub with a 2 1/2" susp and 2" body lift, and it keeps the CG down.

My reccomendation: stay with the 2" BL
 






2" lift

I've got the 2" lift also. No steering extension needed. Bumpers are very close and did not need to come off for the install. I'll probably skip the bumper brackets as I do a little towing, and they are not recommended for towing.
Boy would I love to have that 4" lift...

4" of lift just never seem like quite enough. I have it now, but would like a tad more.

I have the new 4" superlift with new rear springs, but am thinking of going SOA and putting 1" spacers up front to level it out some. If anyone has any negative comments/positive??, speak now.....Thanks.

You have to use a ranger body lift. The best thing would probably be to talk to Mark at offroadwarehouse.
 






hey goob....are you talking of going soa with your 4" springs? insane man!!! or are you talking of going back to the stock leaf springs, and then doing a soa?

either way, if you were to get the superlift rear bracket kit, it would probably be the best way to do it. it comes with the shock mounts....

because they first sent me a bronco rear block kit with my superlift, and the actual kit that i needed was backordered, i chose to go custom soa on mine. it wasn't that hard. new spring perches can be purchased for under $20....(mine were $5.50 a piece) the hard part about custom soa is where to mount the shocks. some have just bolted them to the plate where the sway bar bracket used to be, but that didn't seem safe enough to me. so i found a local fabricator here to make some for me. they haven't gone on yet, cause im fighting the front end still....trying to get it to line up....grr.....but in the rear, using the materials that i did, it ended up being EXACTLY 5.5" up. so i was pretty happy about that....

anyway, if you are going custom soa, PM or e-mail me.....i feel like i have a pretty good grasp on it now. amazing what a little experience can do for ya!!!! another good person on the custom route is CHH777. he did the 4" superlift in front, and the custom soa in back. enough rambeling for me now....
