if you keep the tire diameter the same, your mileage shouldnt change too much... and your brakes may wear down a little faster... just due to the added weight of larger wheels
My 20s are barely heavier than the stock wheel/tire combo. They are 4lbs heavier per wheel. I didn't notice any difference with braking. I did get crossdrilled and slotted rotors so if you end up getting heavy wheels and need a little improvment with braking you do have some options.
Some newer explorers have TPMS. If you change the wheels and can't mount the sensors properly, you will have to deal with that light blinking and sounding at you.
20's arent that bad at all. gas mileage for me only decreased by 1 mpg. as far as brakes, mine havent worn all that fast for the time that ive had them. they will wear more, but not severely.
