2000 4.0L SOHC Oil Gauge

Hey all,
I have a 2000 Ford Explorer 4.0L SOHC and while driving on the highway my oil pressure gauge dropped below L. After pulling over, the engine started to run roughly and rattle so I immediately shut it off. Upon inspection of the oil level, I don't seem to be leaking or burning oil. Does this sound like a problem with the oil pump? Or could it be something else?

Almost sounds like maybe your timing chain guides broke and are clogging up your oil pickup tube... Have you dropped your oil pan to check for debris?
