2000 5.0 v8 DPFE location

I have seen pictures of where the DPFE is located on earlier engines...usually on the firewall. But it is not on the firewall for this 2000 v8 5.0. The haynes book that I have only shows the 4.6 or some such but not this. I have looked at all the pictures here to but none of them show the correct location.
Would appreciate the help.

Should be right by the EGR. The EGR is on the back of the 90* elbow that is bolted to the upper intake manifold. Just follow the vacuum lines & wires & you will locate it.

Ditto, it is on the top back passenger side of the engine. They are prone to failing part of the time, usually in late Fall. The prices went up a couple of years ago. Good luck,

Yeah thats it, on the back on the manifold.

Good luck. Pain in the ass doesn't fully describe swapping the DPFE on the 5.0. You have less than an inch to work in. Took me about 30 seconds on the OHV 4.0 and probably 20 minutes on the 5.0

Alright not to hijack, but slightly related question. Why would OBDI troubleshoot the DPFE better than OBDII? I was working on an 00, I forget the exact code but it was an EGR flow insufficient. I stuck that DPFE on my 95 4.0 (had previously been replaced with the OEM DPFE that required soldering on a new plug). Drove it a mile, MIL did not come on. Checked the codes just for ***** and giggles, threw a EGR sensor is/was out of range.

As newer PCM's get more powerful, everything in the system is more complicated. More items can cause the same error code.
