I've got a 2000 Explorer, Like it a lot, but a continuing problem is occurring with the rear window wiper. There is a Switch (solenoid) that is depressed when the rear window is closed which allows the wiper to operate. When the window is open, the switch keeps the wiper from operating. Which is what it's suppose to do. The problem is that the wiper won't work even with the window closed tightly. I had this problem before and was able to take the solenoid out and clean it up and reinstall it. But, it's occurring again, and I'm hoping that someone has a "work around" for this. As I don't have machine shop access, I can't make my own piston for the solenoid. Is my only alternative to buy another solenoid, or is there another answer. I'm guessing that the solenoid is getting moisture in it, I had coated it with Vaseline to stop any moisture from entering, but obviously it doesn't work. Also, the remote locking on the drivers door isn't working (intermittently). Can I adjust the lock arm? I had the door apart to replace a interior door handle (which broke anyhow, aftermarket) and didn't see any obvious way of adjusting the actuator for the electric door lock. Any suggestions?

there is no adjustment for the door actuator motor itself. i once read a post here where someone took one apart (involved drilling) cleaned the insides out and greased up the gears inside (yes there are gears inside) and was able to get it to work. when he was done he had to add screws to hold it together. personally i think i'd just get a replacement.

i just bought a complete lift-gate. if you're interested i have a window switch. PM me if you're interested.

Must be different, no gears, just a piece of metal that is pushed into a chamber which closes a circuit that allows the wiper to operate. it's basically a solenoid. As for replacing it, I'll probably have to do that, but was hoping for a work around. You appear to have a completely different problem.

the actuator motor is what locks/unlocks the doors and lift-gate. there are gears inside, though you might think it was just a solenoid. as far as me having a problem, i'm not having any problems, so i don't know what you mean.

the rear window switch (which inhabits the wiper if the rear glass is open) is a different part.

Then why bring up the locking actuator, If you had read completely what I was writing about, you would have understood it was the wiper operation that I was concerned with. You've offered nothing usable and seem to be upset that the wrong information wasn't accepted as correct. It reminds me of the kid in class whom always stated the obvious and expected to be praised for it.

i did read your entire post. this is the only reason i mentioned the lock actuator. i'm not upset. as far as your wiper/window switch. i told you had a spare.
