I went to replace one of the lamps in the overhead console today. First I though you had to drop the entire cosole so I removed the two screws (inside the garage door opener compartment) and pulled the console down an inch until there was resistance. Then I realized all I had to do is pop off the lense beneath the lamps. I reattached the console, popped the lense, and removed the burned out bulb. I have left the burned out bulb in place until I can find a replacement. However, after doing all the above, my power windows no longer work, my overhead courtesy lights no longer work when the door is opened, and the key in the ignition warning chime speeds up (does not stop ringing) when you remove the key from the ignition with the door open. It goes off when you close the door.
What on earth did I do wrong and what do I need to do to fix it. I checked applicable fuses in the passenger compartment box and under the hood and did not find any blown.
Hope someone out there can help with this seeming ridiculous problem.
