2000 Ford explorer transmission problems

I just recently replaced the filter and fluid in my automatic transmission it's a 5.0 and now it doesn't go into reverse drive second or first it just it when it does go into gear it goes in for a second and stops, I need to find out what the problem is.

What did the fluid look like when you changed it, any metal pieces in pan? How many miles are on it, and was it changed before? Any trans problems before the fluid and filter change?

If it was OK before the work that was done, I'd suspect either the filter isn't seated
properly or the torque converter isn't filled yet. First, check the fluid level and run
the trans through the gears several times to get the converter filled. It may be as
simple as that. If no joy, then an O-ring might have dislodged or gotten cut upon
installation of the filter.
