2000 Ford Explorer, V6, SOHC, Auto, 4.0. Bucking at certain rpms, missing, rough idle when raining or temp changes. Scanner told me Cylinder 2 misfire and too lean on Banks 1 and 2. What are my next steps. I'm new to the "do-it-yourself " crowd. I love my Explorer and want to learn it. Thank you so much. cavedweller3366@comcast.net

Intake manifold gaskets

Your upper and lower intake manifold gaskets probably need replacement. The original gaskets shrink with age and leak especially during cold temperatures. They are inexpensive but it will take you several hours to perform the task. See Starting my 00M12 Installation and ignore the parts about the hydraulic tensioner and oil restrictor.

Welcome fellow 2000 Sport owner!

Usually misfires when wet are ignition wire related and sounds like you need intake gaskets.

Finally got a break in the weather and got to trouble shoot. #2 plug wire was arcing off of intake. #4 wire was frayed inside boot, and boot was swollen around plug. #5 wire wasn't sitting right inside coil pack.....moisture was on top of coil pack so prob got inside. Checked plugs....#2 was changed....others are only a few months old. Changed wires, 8mm suppressors. All issues gone. Claring codes and waiting to see if Lean code returns. I am a happy Explorer now!
