2000 xls
I just bought a 2000 xls. The problem is I can start it and after it warms up and runs for a half hour or more if I shut it off it will not start right back up till it sets for at least a half hour or so. It cranks but does not start. The other night it did this and after repeated attempts to restart it it stopped cranking over completely. Took it to ford, they said it was dirty injectors and cleaned them scoped it and said every thing was fine drove it home and it did it again. It does have an after market key. could this be part of the problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

When it doesn't start, you need to determine if it's fuel or spark related. When you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or two. If not, check/replace the fuel pump relay.

already

did that on sat. fuel related. started when I used starting fluid. Also went to auto zone got a fuel relay. put in not the problem. waited for 1/2 hour or so then it started again. Could it have to do with the fuel pressure in the gas lines?

stupid question how about fuel filter??

First of all, what's an aftermarket key? Explain that. And second, if you just bought it from a Ford dealer, take it back and have them figure it out. Why waste your time? You've got a 30 day warranty or something don't you?
