2001 Ford Ranger. 4x4 is not working.

My truck will not engage into 4x4 no light no sound nothing. can some1 tell me where to start? please. 4X4 Transfer Case Motor Actuator,should i check this or the module if its the module where is it?

i have the same problem. i've given up on finding the cause. too many people have given me too many causes. none have panned out. i'm taking mine to the dealer and biting the bullet on the cost.

i'd like to have a manual transfer case with a shifter or a linkage to the motor would work just as good. a transmission shift cable with a bracket on the case attached to the motor sounds like a cure. or a three position electric switch through a fuse to the motor might work. guess i have talked myself into a project to try before the dealer.
