has anybody put power seats form a 2001 explorer into an early model. the power seats in my 92 are worn out and i found a set form a 2001 that i would like to think would fit. just trying to see if this will work. i need new seats and if anybody has any ideas as to other options, that would be great

Yes they will work fine for you. The power connections may require some custom wiring but they will physically fit in the tracks.

If they would fit in a 92, I would assume they would fit in a 95, right? Do the 2001 seats look different from the 1995 seats (the "perforated" leather is what I have and I'm not too crazy about it, plus my driver's seat has many cracks and three creases where the the leather has been stretched because the previous owner seriously neglected this truck)

yup :D

Cool. Does anyone know if the newer ones are the perforated leather, or are they solid?

I got seats from A limited Edition Explorer. They use thicker leather. and it's not preforated. My regular eddie Bauer seats were cracking bad on the driver side.

Good Luck,
Al

I am not sure about 2001, but for a long time, only Limiteds had the better leather.....

From what I can recall the newer generation explorer seats will fit any year but 1991. Not sure why exactly, but that is just what I remeber reading b/c I wanted to put some 2001ish leather seats in my 91 and I was told it was a no go.

I heard the same thing about 91's. Which really pisses me off because I absolutley hate my seats. But I also read about how the track on a 91 is the differant part, not the actual mounting size. So please, enlighten me as well.

The track is slighty diffeent, using different mounting holes. If I remember correctly,a couple of people have simply fabbed up an adapter bar that uses the original holes....
