2001 ford ranger edge
I just bought a 2001 edge, and so far i am impressed but the front tow hooks have been removed and replaced by two small recevers and there is a female electric plug hidden behind the front licence plate, I have searched the web till my fingers hurt trying to find out if this is some kind of home made towing kit or winch mount or did they have this thing istalled. Another concerne is that the truck has an auto"trans and 4x4.

...Welcome here..:D

...Sounds like a nice little truck...The parts you found on the front I believe, are for a tow bar and light hook-up...It was probably towed behind an RV..;)

Yep, I would also check to see if you can put the transfer case in N. For some trucks (i.e. my 97 Sport) it can be added by the dealer to allow flat towing.

I'm thinking about adding N to mine, but I'm not thrilled at the prospect of going to the dealer for it. According to my owners manual, they have to use the Service Bay scan tool (or whatever its called) to add N.

2001 ranger tow hook for winch bracket?

thank you tbars4 for the info i was worried there might be some hidden damage from some body towing this thing, (is there a way to check to see if this thing has had a nutral added to the transfer case? Im clueless.) And also the recevers they put on in place of the hooks, if i was to build a winch bracket that would slide in to the recevers (would it hold?) cuz its the ideal place for one.

...I would check with the guy who is going to do the welding...You might want the winch located up between the rails...;)

..As for the neutral set up, I haven't a clue..I know it's something "Special" from the Dealer, for the vehicle being towed. Look in the towing section as I know it's been talked about there...Or, Dogfriend may know...:D

dogfriend

Hey thanx for the info man I checked my dash and nothing, But I allso been checking out every thing else on this truck looking for damage from towing , I have no clue how these people were towing this thing but so far it just seems to be a exelent little machine.I dont plan on towing it in the future I just need good 4x4 transportation cuz I work 3 to 4 days a week in the mountains & deserts.

chainsaw carving

Hey rangerx its allways good to hear from somebody else who enjoys playin the chainsaw! But whats a tikis? is it like a totem? Any way as to your question, I do any thing from life size bears, gunfighters, indians down to things as small as hiking sticks. I've been hooked on that noise for thirty years and probably will be till they find me under a tree with my cold dead fingers wrapped around a good chainsaw.

...RangerX won't get the message if he didn't already post in this thread...:dunno:

Ford diesel to natural gas

At the risk of being anoying I have another question, I also have a 2007 ford diesel. Its my pride and joy so I wouldnt want to do any thing risky with it, But if the greedy oil companys keep up there EVIL ways, I have been told there is a way to convert a diesel over to natural gas without loosing power, and its supose to burn cleaner resulting in longer engin life?

converting ford ranger to natural gas

While Im at it what about converting my 02 ranger to natural gas anybody know the pro's,- con's & how too's.

Chain, we have a section of the forum your natural gas questions would fit into: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=140
Click this link, and start a new thread, you'll get your questions noticed more there, instead of buried in this thread.

I hear you on the not-too-computer-savvy. If you have any pics of your work on any other site on the web, you could tell us where, so we could see your art!

pictures on a computer

Hey ranger I clicked on to that link ya gave me and asked the same Question, And I hope I did it right. (it looked like it worked ) I'm learning I think? This horse*^#( is confusing but these last two weeks is the first time I have ever sat down at a computer for any length of time because the doctor wont let me do any thing else right now (bored out of my gored). The wife tells me I need to take new (digital) pictures of my work to put them on a computer or scan my portfolio, But bare with me I'll get em on there somehow. By the way how do you sell you work? cuz I know some contractors who build cabins, And some who do some very high end land scaping, that would keep you sawin & sawin till yer sawer is sore.

I saw your thread, you done good.

As far as pictures online, ask your kids for help, if you have any, or anyone under 20 or so. ;) It's like breathing to them!

I sell my stuff by word of mouth mostly. What part of the world are you in?
