2001 sporttrac evap code

I keep getting a code saying i have a small leak in my evap system
I reset the light and go' for a week or 2 with the light not coming on then boom it comes back on I reset it and it stays off for about another couple of weeks does this make sense that it would take that long to come on again

I would think it depends on the amount of miles you drive and how small the leak is.

Put a little silicone lubricant around the gas cap seal.........

The evap test can only happen between 15-80% of the gas tank being full.
