OK so I am a newbie to the 2001 (3rd gen body) and have had a few issues that I am afraid to drive it until I fix.
The truck is a xlt 4x4 and the 4wd does not want to engage, no 4x4 light on the intrument panel and no lights on the buttons when pressed. The truck makes a humming when driven and I am thinking that the 4wd might be engaged but can't get it out. I saw something about a electrical module on these that controls the system, maybe thats it? I am looking for ideas how to fix this, little afraid to drive it till I know its not engaged, I have heard thats damaging to the system. If I can't figure something out, how hard is it to totally disconnect the 4wd system? Thank you for your help.
