2002 Explorer 4x4 issue/questions

Hello all, I been using this forum for a lot of the questions I have for both my Explorer and Mountaineer both 2002 V6.

Well on my Explorer the 4x4 High flashes and will not engage. 4x4 Low works. I have been searching the threads with no luck find the right answer but have a lot of good info just not what I am needing.

I have counted the number of times that it flashes, 9 times. I have noticed that when I engage the 4x4 low the light stops flashing until I get in the truck again.

Its more than likely the 4x4 module, which is located behind the glove box. Its gonna cost a pretty penny from what ive read sorry about your luck. But welcome to the forum!

Is there any way to test the module?

I have no idea, I just read about it being associated with flashing and certain parts of the 4 wheel drive not working. My ex is a 2wd lol
