2002 ford explorer
Ok i've had issues since I bought this explorer. I Started with a 2002 explorer xlt 4x4 4.0 sohc not flex fuel, It would not start or run period! the previous owner blew a freeze plug out and run it until it locked up.
So here's where I started, I bought a used 97 explorer for the motor and swapped everything over including new timing chains, gaskets, water pump, filters, valve job on both heads, thermostat, and new flex plate.
I can crank the motor all day long but no start, It has spark but no fuel pump.
The inertia switch is fine and not reset, I get 12v to the fuse and then to the fuel pump relay. I get .13v when starting on two sides of the relay, I can also hot wire the fuel pump and it works but still no start. I have searched and read and reset and checked for 2 weeks every evening and im stumped.
Also it has codes p0231 and p0230 which is pump related, Thank you all for your time and help

So, when you hot wire the fuel pump, you have good pressure at the rail?

If you have spark and pressure at the rail, I would think Crank Possition Sensor, but with the codes, I'm not sure.

I have enough pressure to squirt fuel everywhere in the engine compartment, as far as numbers I have no clue. But as for an update I installed a new crankshaft position sensor and that wasent it, but I did find a missing fuse #49 after installing that fuse it will crank and try to idle but dies:scratch: but atleast im getting somewhere.

Search this site for what those codes mean.

P0230 (fuel pump primary circut malfunction)
P0231 (Fuel pump 2nd circut low)

got the explorer running pretty decent, missing vacuum hose on back of intake. Now im having issues getting the thing to move in any gear? doesent even feel like it trys
