2002 explorer-removing running boards

I'm in the mud a lot. I'll be running 265s. The running boards just seem to only collect mud and get in the way. Is it hard to take them off, or any reason not to.
 






theyre actually meant so you dont bottom out your truck on rocks/other intrusive objects and mess up the body/bottom of the doors
 






They are bolt on so taking them of is easy... just crawl under there and go for it...
 






The ones you have should be metal I believe?
They are a pain to take off due to angles and fuel lines if I recall. Easier to take off than put back on.
I took mine off for weight reduction and to me, it looks cleaner. I hope I never get the desire to put them back on.
They bolt to brakets on the frame. Take the brackets off or you'll have studs sticking down that could catch on things.
