2002 Explorer XLT Cranks but won't start

Put in the new relay still will not fire up. Will run with starting fluid still. Lol still no power at fuse 26 and fuel guage still shows empty.

Cripes! I'll check with my son in law, ex Ford mechanic, to see if he has any ideas/suggestions. There is a fuel release valve close to the fuse box under the hood, should have a blue cap on it and it looks just like a tire valve. If you can get to it, take the cap off and depress the valve inside, use a small flat tip screwdriver. "If" fuel is making it that far, you'll know the pump is good, and your problem is probably electrical (no doubt it is after what you've posted so far). I'll check back in about an hour or so with hopefully better news.

I did find that and it just trickled fuel out barely. Didn't seem to have any pressure to it. The oil was one quart low and topped it off . Coolant is about an inch under the cold mark on the reservoir.

Ok I hooked the volt meter up so I could see it from the cab. And is is doing the one second prime phase. But reaching 11.28 volts then dropping again. I think my battery is getting weak as it doesn't last long before clicking and having to hook up a battery charger. I'm trying to make sure all variables are shown.

Sorry for the delay in responding, the only thing the son in law could offer is possibly the crankshaft position sensor. But, you are getting fuel to the system (it won't come pouring out, a trickle is what should be expected). Constant cranking of the engine is definitely going to wear the battery down, it wouldn't hurt to grab some cables and jump it, let it charge for a bit, then try again. Have you checked all of the fuses? I'm not the expert on automotive electrical systems, I do radios, but I try to give all of the fuses a check before hitting the more difficult suspects. As a thought, disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and reconnect it, making sure it's clean before doing so.

I want my 57 Chevy back, life was simpler then.

I'll check back after cutting the grass (small yard).

Thanks for the info. I orders a fuel pressure gauge and have 0 pressure from new pump. I will check the cps and try what you mentioned. But I do not seem to be getting fuel to the rails and injectors. Also disconnected filter and cycled key on and off and no fuel moving at all from pump. Someone mentioned the inertia switch. Checked it and no power in or out.

Good luck, and please, when you find the problem, let us know, you'll be helping others.

Ok may have found something. I have power at inert. Switch and all the way to fuel pump. But found my connector on truck is an 7 pin and my pump is a eight pin.????? Did they send the wrong pump??

That's possible. Depending on when the truck was made, they could've made a change midstream in that configuration. Don't ask me why tho. My feelings are if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
