Hey All,
I've been looking for a solution to an issue with my mother in laws vehicle for some time now (3 weeks) with no luck. I've seen several options that come close but do not quite fit the bill. I don't want to just keep throwing parts and money at the problem with no success. Her budget is very limited so I'm trying to avoid a repair shop if at all possible. Any suggestions would be a huge help.
2000 Ford Explorer XLT V6
Engine will crank but not start most times, occasionally it will start but will either die quickly, or (this is important I think) when I press the gas it will die immediately.
The following have been done:
1.) Fuel filter replaced
2.) Cleaned Mass airflow sensor
3.) Cleaned Idle air control
4.) Replaced Throttle control
I have attempted to disconnect the Mass airflow sensor and got the same results as with it connected.
I rented a OBD2 meter yesterday, but in all honesty even after looking online I'm hard pressed to figure out how to pull all the correct codes. What I did see is this:
Innova 3100 lat OBD2 scanner
Along the top the following ar flashing red: CAT, EVA, 025, HTR and EGR. Best I can tell is those items are just not being tested for some reason.
I found one error code: P1124 that indicates the throttle control motor has a short. As listed above I just replaced this item, so I'm not sure if I should be looking someplace else?
Sorry to ramble but I wanted to give out as much information as I could for those far more skilled and knowledgeable than I am.
