I searched a bunch of fog light problems and couldn't find anything, shed a little help/insight if you can

On way back from upstate i noticed my fogs werent working the indicator light on the knob still works. I run hids in my fogs and its not common for both sides to go out at the same time. I looked in the manual and was a bit confused. it shows a fog light fuse export only in the fuse box under the hood driver side, and there is no fuse there. Then it shows the relay and it says its on the driver side behind dash?? is this correct? I popped the side peice off that sits between the door and dash and saw some relays but it doesnt look easily accessible. Will i have to take off my whole driver side dash to get to it? The book also states there is a fuse box located on pasenger side by there feet? Does anyone have some tips to start the diagnosis, or an easy way to check/change fuses. I check the hid bulbs and ballast and there seems to be nothing wrong with them...

the fuse box that is under the hood is located behind the battery, you have to remove the plastic cover to locate the fuses. the fuse box that is located inside the car is directly above the OBD port. You do not need to remove any trim pieces. Since you are running HID's there is a good chance your ballast or bulb has failed, which is what happened to me. To check, take a voltmeter and place them on the fog light connectors right before they plug into the ballast box.

I will check the ballasts more thoroughly, obd port isnt that on the driver side? I didn't see any fuse box or anything. If it was a relay or fuse is it correct to assume that the indicator light wouldn't light up?

yes obd is on driver side, fuse box is underneath the dash, if you look under there you will see it. Fog lamp relay is located in the fuse box that is under the hood. Easiest method to check them is to use the voltmeter.

Ok thanks and nothing needs to be removed to access the relays by the obd? And is the fog lamp relay in the fuse box with all the other fuses. in the manual it says its port 14 and that port is empty.

according to the manual, #14 should be the one marked in the power distribution box under the hood correct

ok there is no fuse there thats y im a bit confused about the location of the fuse for the fogs the relay is by the obd yes...

fedyfedz, the fuses/relays you are looking for are in the Power Distribution Box located under the hood on the driver's side behind the battery:

#44 is a 10A Mini Fuse for the fog lamps, #50 is the relay for the fog lamps:

Did you ever check out my reply to your question about replace the instrument cluster lights with led's? http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showpost.php?p=2580945&postcount=7

leds are going to be on the waiting list lol, I checked my ballast's this weekend and there working fine i ended up buying another set just in case. I must of over read/misread. I didnt see fuse 44 being front fog lamps, I will check that today and my friend has a volt reader, how do you check if the relay is bad and visible signs?
