2002 mountaineer rear window hatch issue....

hi all! i have a 2002 mountaineer that has the 'door ajar' alert issue. the battery is dying after 3 days. i was looking at the back window, and noticed the upper hatch wasnt sitting flush to the car. in checking it out, the whole latch assembly is rotted away from the frame, and im thinking this is where the problem is. im not interested in trying to repair this, but was wondering if there is a fuse i can pull to stop the alert? or another way to to stop the alert?

Well ... there's a switch at that latch. It's pretty simple; switchOpen = doorAjar, switchClosed = notDoorAjar. Wire the switch closed.
