2002 Tranny Trouble???

I've got an '02 4.6L 4x4 Explorer with 163k. For the last couple months I've had occasional problems with it not wanting to shift into 3rd or 4th when driving. When this happened I could lay off the gas, hit it again and it would shift. This morning it was worse and I had to shift through 1-2-3 with the column shifter. Now that it's parked it won't go into to gear. I can feel it trying to engage but it acts as if it's in neutral when I hit the gas.

Any chance that it's something other than a catastrophic failure of the transmission?

same thing happend to me.. mine was the tranny pump and the one way clutch was busted
