2002 XLT hood will not unlatch

Hello,

I need to get under the hood and find that the unlatching mechanism no longer works. This is probably yet another example of a 2-cent piece of plastic that should have been a 5-cent piece of metal and has now failed. I have lubricated the latch under the hood from time to time and have never had a problem before.

How can I go about getting in?

Use a long flat screwdriver or pry bar with a pointed end, and manually release it. Cable may have broke, may have streched, ect. But you should be able to pry it over to release.

I had to do it when my front end got caved in by a tree falling across front end.
