2002 XLT Transmissions

I am seriously thinking about buying the 2002 XLT's. I've read that some people have had transmission problems with them.

I will not be doing any towing with it. I was leaning towards the V6 but will get the V8 if the transmissions are better.

Do the V6 and the V8 have the same 5-speed transmissions?

Any help would be appreciated

Can you get the v8 in a 5 speed? I thought it only came in auto.

Yes, I believe the new V8 comes with a 5 speed transmission.

Yes, the new 4.6L V8 Explorers come with a 5-speed auto. It is a revised 5R55E but I can't remember what the new model number is. I do not know if the V6 gets the same upgraded transmission or not or if it still gets the original 5R55E.
