Hello folks,
New member here and loving every thread of it. I recently purchased a 2003 Ford Explorer 4x4 XLT 4 door. 16 days after I bought the truck I was rearended by an inconsiderate woman in an F-150 who decided that taking pills and then going for a drive would somehow be relaxing. Well she totaled the F-150 and after 3k of body work I was able to pick up my vehicle.
I noticed when backing out of the parking space in the dealership parking lot that when I put the truck in reverse there was slight pop from underneath when the transmission engaged. The same pop was heard when I put the vehicle in drive as well. It is not a constant thing but it was not making that noise when I bought it. I had the truck back in the shop to correct the problem and they recomended a transfer case flange. They said there was a bulletin from Ford that the original one wears out quickly and they had a newly redesigned part that could be installed. Of course the insurance company is taking that to mean it had nothing to do with the accident even though it was not doing that before.
I am wondering a few things:
Anyone else have this problem?
Could it be something else and if so what?
I can do most repairs myself but I am concerned that it was not diagnosed properly. Was hoping to find some answers here.
Thanks in advance and I appreciate the help.
