2003 Jerks when put in reverse, jerks harder when put in drive

Exactly as the title says. When I shift from park to reverse, the truck shutters and jerks. When I put it in drive, it jerks even harder and I can hear a clunking noise. Any thoughts? It's got the 4.6.

Sounds like it could be a bad solenoid block/solenoid pack. I had the same issue on my old truck and replacing the part fixed it. Make sure you buy a new one, not remanufactured.

There's a thread on here on how to replace it, if you search for "solenoid block" or "solenoid pack". You'll need to drop the pan to get to it, so you might as well replace the transmission filter at the same time and put in new fluid for what you'll drain out.

It's not a hard job really, just a little messy.
