I have an 04 xlt...
1. the first problem I noticed was the extreme amount of difficulty I was having getting the vehicle out of 4 low
2. a month or two later i replaced the battery and after doing so the truck kicks into 4 hi upon starting the 4x4 lights flash during this process then eventually stay lit up since the truck is in 4x4 hi i can get it out after pushing the 4x4 auto button several times and it stays off until i start the car again and the process starts over...i also noticed from time to time when the 4 wheel drive is kicked in i would have some weird braking issues like the abs would kick in like you on ice or something at low speeds
3. my service engine soon light is on which i assume is because i need an oil change
4. abs light is on
5. also for a while my cruise control quit working but suddenly started working again after several months of not working

any advise would be great

go big blue!

I've not known the 04's to have these issues.
The 4x, I'd suggest the 4x module is having issues.
But with all the other symptoms, I'd be inclined to think PCM.
Now, these vehicles use a Can Bus sytem, which means multiple devices may share the same wiring utilizing different frequencies.
So if any of these items share a wire, that could be the issue as well.

I have had weird behavior on another car ( pt cruiser ) that was related to low voltage, turn out the negative battery cable was bad and the alternator was beinging to go bad , the computer would see less than 11 volts and start all kinds of weird stuff. After replacing the alternator, battery cables, and cleaning and checking all of the connections, the problems went away and have not come back.

So check to be sure the voltage is good, and the electrical connections good. don't forget to check the engine and body grounding cables as these can corrode as well.

Codes

C1234
u2023
u1900
b2900
p0193

C1234 wheel spped RF signal missing
U2023
U1900 CAN Communication Bus Fault - Receive Error
B2900 VIN Mismatch ( ABS )
P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure and Temperature Sensor

Wheel sensor, ABS, Fuel sensor... Hard to see how these would be related to each other. Like I said, I would be sure the electrical system has proper voltage and the connectors are well seated. If you search the forum for these codes, you will find a number of discussions about them, but I don't see any that have this combination of error codes.
