I have a 2004 Ford Exporer XLT which is exhibiting the famous slamming into gear syndrome, (upshifting/downshifting) my really simple question would be. Is there a code usually set when the "shift solenoid" is the problem or could I still have a bad solenoid and not trip a fault code? I have a new solenoid ordered, however was wondering if it's going to be a wasted purchase because I haven't set off any codes yet. It will harshly drop into gear from 2nd gear/3rd gear with delay going into OD upon upshifting and downshifting.
