2004 Ford Explorer NBX

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer NBX V8. Yesterday it would not go over 20mph without sound like the engine was revving up and it felt like it would jump into gear. What could be the problem?

Sounds like it could be something to do with the fan speed module in your radiator. My father had a similar problem in his 2006 Explorer where the engine would feel like it was revving up very loud in low gear and would feel like it was getting bogged down. The mechanic never found anything wrong in the transmission but assumed it was still the transmission, and had it rebuilt. After over $1000 was spent on the rebuild, the problem persisted. We later discovered it was a bad fan speed module in the radiator. So before getting your transmission checked, have someone who knows what they are doing check the radiator's functionality.
