2005 ford explorer
Hello all,
I am new to this as I found you on Google. I live in NC and have been married for 2 years.

We have a 2004 Ford Explorer and I am wanting to ER bigger tire with out getting bigger rim or a lift kit at this time due to money

What is the biggest size tire I can put on the 2004 Ford Explorer on the stick rims?

I have tried looking for it but some places say 265/70/r16. Others say 275/70/r16

Any help??? Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Thanks for your answers, but now I have another question.

If I was to buy two new tires 265/70/16 for the back, will it mess anything up if I leave the 235/70/16 on the front for a month or so until I can save up the money for them?

Again, Thanks in advance for your help.

If you are 4x4, then don't mix and match sizes. Or brands for that matter.

For some good inexpensive tires, you might look at going with treadwrights. I had a set on my last Explorer. www.treadwright.com

Thanks, I will check it out.

Will 265/70/16 fit a stock 2004 Explorer?

One tire guy says they are to big and will hit the arm without even trying them. Another tire guy said they will work just fine.

Found some 265/75/16, anyone else have them on their Explorer with out it being being lifted???

I run Goodyear Wrangler MTR's in 265/75-16

this is my 02 on 265's
I would recommend 265's
yes mine is an 02 but we are still in the same generation
I have no problems with rub, or anything
they just go right on!
These I got through Tirerack for $590 and it cost me $10 a tire to have them mounted/balanced
total $630 and no modifications
it made the explorer sit higher and made it look more aggressive

My tire guy today put one of the tires on the left front, and then took it back off. He said he would not run the tires on the Explorer, sue to a possible rub on the "A" frame.

Oh well. No big tires for you....

They will fit my friend, my ex right there has them on it, no rub anywhere
He is wrong, tell him you want them on and try it, if you feel otherwise have them taken off and get a different set
but mine is stock height, and they fit just fine
no rub ANYWHERE
I have been under it and looked
i have gone lock to lock without rub
even when the suspension gets fully loaded they dont rub

ok, so the 265-75-16 did not work out for my Explorer.

I have a guy that wants to trade a shotgun i have for 235-75-15 with rimes.

My question is, will 15in rims, fit my 2005 Ford Explorer? Right now I have 235-70-16

No, 15'' rims will rub on the calipers.
