My thought - The way I understand is that overdrive is an automatic function on some vehicles to maintain the best gear for the required performance. if it is not a malfunction then perhaps its to benefit your best interest.

Are you able to turn it back on using the button at the end of your shifter?

Alex, a lot has already been said on this site about the early symptoms you are experiencing with your transmission and the different paths that journey might take you. Recommend you read the thread I've pasted below to get you started on this potentially difficult journey. Make yourself a nice hot drink, read this thread, search for other similar threads and go from there. Recommend that hot drink not include any alcohol quite yet. But, you will most likely need that alcohol later...

Thank you to your advice.I read a lot of forums and google it to.But my situation looks a little bit different from others.1)My explorer has no shifting problems and there is no check engine lights is on and no mistakes showing while using a scanner. So i believe its some sort of electrical problems. But i may be wrong.:help:

If both your OD light and the Check Transmission lights are coming on, "something" is not right with your transmission. On your next drive, watch your RPM's and feel the shifting, you will should view/sense shifts to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and torque converter lockup. When everything is shifting correctly, it almost feels as though you have a 6-speed transmission (with 6th being TC lockup from 5th). If you view/sense only 5 speeds (1-2-3-4-TC Lock), then your OD (or shift to 5th) isn't working. Remember that TC lockup can occur in both 4th and 5th gear.

Good luck...

Incidentally, every 3rd. Gen. I have driven, 5R55W or S, engages TC clutch after 4th. gear engages, then 5th. gear after TCC, when accelerating under normal conditions. imp
