I understand what you're saying, but they make sport trac's w/ 5 speed manuals also. And I'm sure there is no 3500 rpm rev limiter on a 5 speed. And they run the same motor we do. My 4.0L ranger ran perfectly fine revving up to 5k or so. It's understandable that the Sport Trac isn't a dragster!!! I just want a little more performance by revving 1 or 2k rpms more.be careful with that superchip, and removing the limiter.it is there to serve a purpose and helps prolong the life of your engine.
I understand our tracs do lack some oomph in the power department, but treat it right and that 4.0 can go 250k with just minor work necessary..that POS tranny on the other hand..
Yes... The trans does suck big ones, I would love to do a 5 speed swap in mine. Kind of alot of work though.
