2005 Sport Trac Exhaust

be careful with that superchip, and removing the limiter.it is there to serve a purpose and helps prolong the life of your engine.

I understand our tracs do lack some oomph in the power department, but treat it right and that 4.0 can go 250k with just minor work necessary..that POS tranny on the other hand..
I understand what you're saying, but they make sport trac's w/ 5 speed manuals also. And I'm sure there is no 3500 rpm rev limiter on a 5 speed. And they run the same motor we do. My 4.0L ranger ran perfectly fine revving up to 5k or so. It's understandable that the Sport Trac isn't a dragster!!! I just want a little more performance by revving 1 or 2k rpms more.

Yes... The trans does suck big ones, I would love to do a 5 speed swap in mine. Kind of alot of work though.

Awesome! Thanks.

Hey man, sorry for not responding all weekend. I went under the truck and for the life of me couldn't get a decent picture. I'll try again once the rain dries up but I think I"ll need to jack the truck up a bit or something.Anyway the best way I can describe it is that the passenger side pipe pretty much goes straight back but the driver's side goes around the spare tire. If that visual makes sense.

I liked your vid Dgonz (I commented on it too)

Could you get some drive by vids if you can? sounds great, nice and smooth.

Oh hey! Thanks I appreciate that!

No problem I'd be happy to. It's been raining on and off here for about a week and I have to convince someone to hold the camera for me but for sure I'll get some drive by's posted here soon. Thanks or all the compliments guys!

I thought the auto trans tracs would rev over 3000 when you were actually driving as opposed to sitting in neutral. Is this not true?

No, only when driving in gear (auto). I know you live in Cally but you'll want to coat those welds so they don't rust out.

Noted, thanks for the tip. What should I coat them with?

??Casey??

Yes, I'm pretty sure they don't make a full exhaust system. They strictly deal with mufflers only. I went to a local muffler shop and had the tech cut off my stock exhaust right after the cats and then installed the Spin Tech muffler. It's only about a two foot section compared to the stock 12 foot exhaust and doesn't weigh like 40-50 lbs.

You could do a dual exit out the back but you'd have to take it to a muffler shop and have them customize some exhaust pipes and weld them on to the muffler. It's not too expensive. For my little two foot section it only cost me about $60 at a local shop.

Casey,
Did you keep the remaining section of exhaust (eg. stock resinator and tailpipe)? Or did you just exit the exhaust from behind the new muffler? Do you have pics?

I was thinking of replaceing my muffler soon with a "spin tech". They offer a 2.5" in and out. Maybe just replace muffler and leave stock piping? Wondering what it would sound like with that setup?!?

Thanks for your input...
