I recently had the motor oil changed and the technician said that my Transfer case was leaking and that I needed new fluid in the Rear differential.

The explorer has 36,900 miles on it. Is this something that is normal after almost 37k miles? How often do you have to change the rear differential fluid? How often does the transfer case leak and is this something that Ford would warrant, even though the warranty is over by almost 2,000 miles.

Thank you

Not sure about the xfr case leaking, mine isn't. But I did change the Transfer case fluid and both Front and Rear Diffs. All of the fluids where dark/black not honey like new and only 34k on the clock. To say the least I was surprised as my Jeep at 50k didn't look nearly that bad, the transfer case when i changed that was still red. I'd change all the boxes at 30k regardless of the maintenance schedule. I will flush the transmission next month too now.

The transmission is sealed on 05's, right? Something I heard from somewhere, not sure where. My rear diff fluid was really black. I'll have to get it changed.

I was wondering of the scheduled maintenance of those fluids.

Transmission is sealed there is another thread talking about how to change it. The flush used the cooling lines to exchange the fluid . .
PS I'd do the front diffs too it was just as bad as the rears.

Changing the rear diff fluid and doing transmission service would be good PM within the next year, or so. Same goes for the transfer case, but the leaking is not normal. Could be a bad seal. Check it and make sure the level stays up to prenent damage.
