2006-2009 factory touch screen in 2002-2005 explorer

Im and owner of a 2004 explorer Limited i was wondering if anyone has trieed to replace their stock 6 disc CD changer with the double din factory touch screen from a 06-10 explorer? if so does it work with the rear seat DVD? and how hard was it? i know this sounds like a stupid question. just looking for some advice thanks.

I don't think so, in '04 there are two type of harnesses. . .all depends.

One is called World Connector, the radio will have black plugs (in '04 this is the base radio). To clarify, I'm not talking about the plugs on car side but on the radio itself.

Second is Phase II, radio's plugs will be grey, ('04 these where the premium or audiophile). I know when i upgraded my basic radio i had to buy an audiophile radio from '03.

I think '05-08 should be phase II. I also think in '09 or '10 radios changed again in some way and they won't work. Then i think i heard you have to program the truck to use the radio, but i'm not 100% on that.

So if you verify which plugs you have now and the new radio's plugs match you might be OK. Another way if you can solder, there is also a way you can make a jumper harness, World to Phase II . . .This is why a lot go aftermarket, better Nav too.
