2006 radiator replacement

I have a 2006 V6 Mountaineer with the famous pos radiator. Does anyone know where I can find the replacement procedure or pm it to me. Is there a place to find it on the web for free? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know if the Mountaineer is like the '96 Explorer but if it is, from what I've been able to find it looks like the Radiator and A/C Condenser must be removed in one piece which means disconnecting the A/C lines and losing all of the Freon. Of coarse venting Freon into the atmosphere is illegal so I'm sure no one would do this unless it was an unavoidable accident
Autozone has an exploded radiator diagram on their website but it doesn't show an A/C Condenser.
I'm still working on the replacement so this is all I can tell you at this point in time.

I had my fourth radiator put in last Friday, Feb 6, after it started leaking Weds morning after a 2 degree night. The last one was April 2008, which was past my 36,000 warranty. I figure the replacement radiators last 9-10 months, then leak again. The dealer charged around $203 for the radiator. I had to go back today again after the hose from the overflow tank to the radiator cap started leaking. The reciept from last week only had the fuel filter on it, not the radiator. I asked the service person, and he did not "finalize" the paperwork yet ? Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty. They have a website where you put in your member number, and the invoice will show the work, costs, etc. I figure that most of the 06 Explorers/Mountaineers will be near or over the 3/36000 mark, so you will be on your own. The service manager hates this site.:thumbdwn:

2 degree night? I don't see how anything works in that environment You are lucky to be covered under warranty because a Radiator change out ain't cheap if you're paying to have it done.
Unfortunately, radiators are not made like they used to be and it doesn't seem to matter what make or model. It's a disposable world, or so it seems. That's the main reason that I intend to fabricate a mounting bracket for the A/C Condenser so that it mounts separately from the Radiator which will allow for an easier Radiator change out in the future (I'm pretty sure this will happen again). I will post pictures if this turns out to be successful.

Appreciate your input, but yes it may be a disposable world as you say...to some degree, I agree...but not when your paying $30,000.00 for a new vehicle and Ford will not stand behind it. To add insult to injury they run you around and waste your time. Throw away world or not, I have owned many vehicles and none of them ever needed the radiator replaced once...never mind with less than 50,000 miles on them. Throw away world...maybe so...Ford will be thrown away if they keep this crap up, especially in today's economic conditions.

I could go on forever as I have had the same problems as others with the radiator...you need to read the thread below in this forum...there is over 4 pages of posts regarding this subject.

I called my service manager (Robert .......) at Hemborg Ford in Corona, CA and got a bunch of B.S. and double talk. I have purchased 5 Ford vehicles from them over the years...Ford and Hemborg should be ashamed of themselves for not standing behind this, never mind they won't even admit there's a problem. I USED TO BE A FORD GUY ALL THE WAY, WAS EVEN THINKING OF GETTING A NEW '09 F150...NOT AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE...I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE ALL I MEET I TELL THEM ABOUT FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP HEMBORG IN CORONA. I guess what I meant or should have said was that the Radiators that are being made today are "throw away" meaning that you cant repair them. I can't speak about the later model Explorer problems, but mine is a '96 and I have owned it since it was new. It has been one of the most trouble free vehicles that I have ever owned although when they do break, it can be expensive to fix. This vehicle has 96,000 miles on it and it is the original radiator that finally started leaking. The Radiator and Heater hoses are all original and although they are still in good shape, all will be replaced. It sounds to me like Ford got a batch of defective Radiators from a supplier. This is not unusual, I used to work for one of the largest Telecommunications Companies in the world and from time to time we would get a bad batch of parts that would cause a problem with one of our systems. Now, don't even get me started about my '86 Bronco II and the problems I had with it during the first 2 years that I owned it. As far as Foreign VS. Domestic cars, I don't know what to tell you. I think they will all have problems at one time or another but I have to agree with you, if the company doesn't support the product, they deserve to go out of business.
