Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out what I need to do to get some better sound using the stock head unit (non-navigation). I do not have a factory sub and would like to add one along with better speakers and amps

The stock system has a good balance and decent sound but I am needing more. Anyone have any suggestions on where to start? I have been searching and reading through forums but haven't found much with anyone upgrading a sound system lime mine?..

First thing to start with is a get a good set of speakers and put them in the doors.

After that, you can get a sub and amp if you wish. But many stop at just the speakers since the sound quality will improve tremendously..

Yeah, I will for sure add better speakers but what is needed to add a sub and new amp in the Explorer

First you need an Amp and Sub of course, and an enclosure for the sub.
Then you need a wiring kit to run power to the amp.
And you'll need a LOC, (Line output Converter) to change speaker wire signal to RCA. You'll need to tap into a speaker's signal to get signal to the sub.
Not too hard. About a days work for someone who's never done it before. Like, 1 hour if you have.

Yeah, I have Sync. I have the basics of how to wire up but wasn't sure how the EB was because it didn't have a sub already and usually these systems are a little more difficult to work with.

I see a lot of Explorers came factory with the sub but the EB didn't? My old EB Expedition had one and had many upgrades over the standard Expeditions. It looks like my EB Explorers upgrade is power 3rd seat and leather? Don't get me wrong I like my ride, just not noticing a big difference from the others. Anyway thanks for the input guys..

The Eddie is as loaded as the customer makes it. The sub in the back is optional.
If you have the time to check, some of these trucks come prewired to just plug in the factory subwoofer. I'm not guaranteeing that yours does, but it is a possibility.

That's what I am finding out. I am missing a sun roof lol...anyway, I will pull the rear panels and see what I can find.

Yeah, if you've got the time then do it.

And, don't worry, sunroofs have their drawbacks. I don't have one and never envy having one.
