It is probably one of the many hoses in that area for the heating system. I just pinpointed coolant leaks there myself. The previous owner installed a Dorman Y and connecting hoses. This part is a piece of junk so don't use it if these hoses are the issue. The hose shields on mine are deteriorating and the hoses are leaking at 2-3 connection points.
My guess is this Dorman part was installed around 20k-30k miles ago and it is now a mess. I have the Ford OEM part on order and while it is more expensive it replaces way more components than the Dorman part and will last much longer. If your problem is in this area you might want to check your exhaust manifold heat shield too. Mine was fairly well deteriorated and this combined with the lack of decent heat shielding on the Dorman part made the hoses suffer heat damage. I am replacing it while the hoses are removed. The OEM heat shield can be bought for around $20.
