I have a 2010 Ford Explorer (EB) 6-cyl engine. It has just a tad over 75,000 miles. The other day when I got home, I put it in park, turned off the ignition but the key wouldn't release. A quick google search directed me to a YouTube video that should me how to remove the top of the center counsel, locate the "pin" on the passenger seat side, and push it back into place. The key released upon doing that. Just yesterday, it did it again. My question is, why all of the sudden did this pin start doing that and what can I do to prevent it from happening again? I know how to fix it but if my wife is driving it, she's going to have a problem.
