2011 Explorer Bluetooth Noise

Well, just know that the mic is not a one time insertion device. It somewhat hinges, by way of short cable, down at the rear (of the vehicle), so I'd pry there.

I tried using the Bluetooth while it was dangling.Figured this would rule out the noise behind the mic It was no different. So I now I feel it not the roof noise. It has to be in the noise cancelling. Whether it be in the mic or sync or in the phone.
The other issue is the bumps, There are many here in Illinois and it make the voice very difficult to understand. Best answer I have is to call from the parking lot.

I will also mention again that Ford service packed foam behind the mic when they replaced it. And had 2.11 installed

Just checking to see if anyone has ever had a successful repair on the BT noise issue. The repair I had done helpped but very little.(new mic and insulation) I would like to find a quality aftermarket mic. Anyone know of any?

Ford has apparently turned a deaf ear to this problem. Maybe they got calls through the Explorer bluetooth and couldn't understand what was being said.

Yes, One of the conversations I had with service guy told me my calls sound the same as any other car phone. Must only speak to people who have sync. ALthough I know 2 others that have Fords and thier calls are much better. One is from a F350 and the other a 2010 Tarus.

From what we have been hearing, it appears it might be just and Explorer related problem. A tech at my dealer said he tried making a call at 70 mph with my X to a guy back at the shop and it was fine. How come it is never fine when I make a call? I believe it is a case of the techs not knowing what to do, so they avoid the issue.

I agree Ford has turned a deaf ear on this problem, dealership claims no problem and Ford won't even let an engineer meet with me at the dealership, 7th Explorer and perhaps my last.

Thanks, Cory. The question is: Will the bluetooth solution be a part of that release?

Very exciting to hear Cory.

We are also experiencing a lot of noise through the blue tooth.
When we got the ex back in March, my wife would call me and it sounded pretty clear. Now, during the last month or so, every time she calls me, there is a lot of background noise and the conversation is choppy. She is using the same phone (motorola razor) since we took delivery of the ex so nothing changed there. I have done a master reset and nothing improved.
We are running Sync version 2.7 since day one.
My question is, if we upgrade the software to 2.11, will this improve the blue tooth reception?

Also, were is the blue tooth microphone located?, somewhere close to the sun visor? How can it be accessed for non-sun roof vehicles?

Let me clarify.... the incoming sound is great. It is what people on the other end are hearing. When I call my wife (she drives the EX) it sounds like she is in a wind tunnel at anything over 30mph. Windows up, Sunroof closed, AC off.... UGH....

we have exactly same symptoms. She drives the ex, she hears me good, I hear her terrible!

I'll add my name to this list. Every time my wife calls me from the Ex it sounds like she's in a wind tunnel. As soon as she comes to a stop it's crystal clear. There has to be something about the placement of the microphone in the car that is allowing air or road noise in. I just told her I'm not talking to her while she's driving because the wind noise is too distracting and makes it difficult to hear what she's saying.

Another identical example as ours....

We have the same problem; very loud while driving and quite while at a stop sign/light. On top of that, my wife called my from our Explorer the other day and I could hear myself echoing during the call (just small bits and pieces of words). Sounded like the mic was picking up the speaker phone and not processing the signal very well (if that makes sense..)

flaguy,

There hasn’t been an official release yet, so I don’t know what will be included. I’ll post when I get word.

Very exciting to hear Cory.
I agree, Car 54. I’m looking forward to when I can make an announcement. :)

new to ford & Tongo,
I can arrange for you to be called by the Customer Service Manager in your area to discuss this concern. Please let me know via PM and include you’re VIN, dealer name/state, mileage, and contact information so I can do that.

Cory

Thanks Cory, PM sent.

I am definitely waiting for this release to hit before bringing my EX in for the windshield whistle fix. Kill two birds with one stone.

My question is...how long will this be under warranty? Let's say they do not produce a solution for another year; will Ford cover the repair or do we need to officially register a complaint within 12 months of purchase to be "grandfathered in"?
