I took my car to the dealership while it was under warranty because my heated/cooled seats were not working well. They fixed it, now I'm passed the warranty and both seats all heated/cooled functions don't work at all. My air conditioning went and when it went so did the seats. When you try to turn on either heat or cooling only 2 lights come on and nothing happens. My mechanic says that I have to replace the whole seat :( I don't think that is right..if anyone knows anything it would be great. I checked the fuses and it's not that. I could understand one function going but every function is a little odd. Thank You

Is your A/C working yet? I believe the blowers in the seats just blow the cabin air through the seats. I don't think they actually have their own cooling system. The heated seats work differently.

Yes, I got the A/C fixed and the seats still don't heat or cool

Maybe need to do a module reset. The dual climate control seat module is under the drivers seat. Should have 3 connectors going to it.

One is 12 cavity with 11 wires.
Other is 10 with 8 wires.
Last is 16 with 10 wires.

I would disconnect all and wait at least 15 minutes. Then plug back in.

Both seats doing it by chance?

Yes both seats don't work

Yes both seats don't work
If both seats don't work then I would doubt the problem is with the seats. Just my uneducated opinion.

Peter

Ok then it seems that the common part is the control unit under the seat.

Can you explain this statement? "My air conditioning went and when it went so did the seats."

If your main HVAC isn't working either then it is most likely Fuse 28 under the hood (30 AMP), which you should probably check anyway.

A/C is fixed. Post 3.

My mechanic who is not a Ford mechanic said that I have to replace the seats...I don't think so

This is what one part of the service manual says for non operation of both seats: VERIFY BJB fuse 28 (30A) is OK. If OK, CARRY OUT the network test using a diagnostic scan tool and VERIFY network communication of the FCIM and DCSM . REFER to Section 418-00, Communications Network, Symptom Chart: Communication Network to diagnose a module communication or network concern. If OK, CARRY OUT the DCSM self-test and RETRIEVE any DTCs . If any DTC is present, Refer to Seating. VERIFY the touchscreen operation. If the touchscreen does not operate correctly, refer to Section 415-00B (if equipped with Premium Plus) or REFER to Section 415-00C, GO to Pinpoint Test L (if equipped with Sony Sound). If OK, INSTALL a new DCSM . Refer to Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module (DCSM)

Its very important to be able to read for diagnostic trouble codes. Knowing any codes present would be a big help.

My mechanic did the module reset and it did nothing. I am really upset about this issue concidering I use the feature all the time

I finally got around to taking my car to ford
They checked everything and found out that the wires were melted together so now I need to pay just under $700 to get a new DCSM.
I emailed ford Canada to make a complaint and never received an email back. I don't understand why I would have to pay to get a new DCSM due to the fact that it was faulty. Yes I understand that I am passed my warranty but I didn't cause this problem.

That's not the way it works. Lots of issues arise or will arise that you didn't cause and you will have to pay to get them fixed. Items will break down sometimes under warranty and often times after through no fault of the owner. It is the first I've read about this particular fault so it doesn't appear to be a very common problem and likely can't be blamed on a faulty design.

I just find it odd that I made a complaint about my heated/cooled seats when I was still in the warranty and I was told they were fine

In that case you may have some leverage to get it covered fully or partially if you have paperwork (work order) to back that up. I would contact the FordService rep here and state your case to them. Can't guaranty it will help but it sure won't hurt.

Hi! I had a problem with heated and cooling seats not even allowing me to press the button on SYNC. A SYNC update and computer flash fixed it for around $150. Also, it helped my phone recognition to be much faster and consistent. It will get rid of all presets, so you will have to customize seats, sound, etc. The only issue is that the dealer didn't double check the navigation maps, so it's empty. I'll have to take it back. Good luck!

Welcome to the Forum.
Do you know which MFT version you were on before the update? When you say "it's empty", exactly what do you see in navigation? Is the S/D card still installed and if so did you try removing and reinserting it?

I currently have EXACTLY the same problem, right down to the 2 lights. Did it ever get fixed?
