I'm guessing you are talking about the Power Transfer Unit (PTU)? If so, the answer is yes. There were several reports of seals leaking and PTU replacemens. There are a few threads that you should be able to find with the 'Search' feature.
LOL, yet ANOTHER PTU thread...man, these threads are like feeding Mogwai after midnight...they just multiply relentlessly.
If ever there was a component on this platform that deserves it's own sub-forum it's the PTU, LOL. It's a very hot topic on the SHO forums (identical drivetrains) as well...so either google and/or search for this on either of these forums, both have some great resources.
Advice? Perform the PTU vent extension modification and begin your own oil change schedule as well as switching to some better oils. Amsoil Severe Duty or Redline Shockproof stuff are both top-shelf products to select from. Shameless plug (pun intended), but I offer for sale a set of drain plugs that can be installed (requiring drilling/tapping) into the PTU, RDU and trans to make service much, much easier...
