2013 XLT 2nd row bucket seats not availalble yet ?

I don't like the option of lifting the seat because I get claustrophobic and like a open passage. Also, is it a definite that there are no interior armrest options for the 2nd row buckets?

We will need Cory to confirm if XLT will have mechanical action to move 2nd row bucket or if it will be a power fold like limited. My guess since XLT does NOT offer 3rd row powerfold, that it will not.

On the Limited, (post some place on forum by VinceL that shows) there is a power button on door-pillar and it auto-powerfolds bucket to give access to 3rd row.

No idea on removal of console - I don't think it is intended to be something you put in or pull out at any time/ no quick release. It is held in place by 4 or more bolt-screws.

I assume that it is removable, but with tools I would think and as I understand it, there is a big hole in the carpet underneath. It isn't meant to be removed. And to confirm, there are no inboard armrests.

Question...I have a 2011 Limited with the 2nd row bench seat and the actual seat portion is not level all the way across...

I’m sorry for not seeing this post before; did you show your dealer the seats? I suggest making an appointment with the service department.

The 2013 Explorer brochure as downloaded from FORD, under the XLT section states the 2nd row bucket seats require option 202A...

• XLT is only offered with manual fold 2nd-row seats. Only Limited offers the power release 2nd-row.
• XLT with 2nd-row Captain Chairs will offer a center console option (as with Limited, and it is not standard). Please note that the 2nd-row center console will not be available on the Sport.
• The 2nd-row center console is not intended to be removable, but rather bolted in as Gatortailale correctly indicates.
• Limited features a PowerFold 3rd-row. Limited 2nd-row Captain Chairs are Power Release, not PowerFold.
• XLT features neither of these. It is all manual.

Technically, they are BUCKET seats in the second row..... captain's seats have arm rests.... which is something Ford should look at as an option if folks do not want the console in the second row (why would you NOT want it). Interesting on the auto-fold second row being push button in the Limited only. Thanks for the info!

Great info. As to why I don't want the console, I like an open walkway to the back (like my minivan with captain’s chairs). The thought of being trapped back there with the only option of having to release the seat makes me nervous and feeling claustrophobic. At the auto shows, where I went to the back of the models with a third row, I did not like being "locked" in back there. I know I'm probably not the norm, but that is why. I agree, that Ford should offer the arms rests; maybe in the next model release! It seems like a no brainer.

2nd Row Legroom

Cory,

Can you confirm that the 2nd row bucket seats in the XLT can adjust forward and backwards? If so, is the legroom provided in the full forward and full back positions identical to the legroom in the Limited with the bucket seats in the same positions? I'm hoping to get to a dealer this weekend to try the bucket seats in a Limited but want to make sure I don't get a big surprise if I order the XLT.

The "Rear seat fore/ aft adjustment" refers to the 2nd row seats and not the 3rd row. The list then goes on to mention 3rd row seats. It states that rear seat centre armrests are standard on the Limited and I have them on the 2nd row seats, although they fold into the seatback when the middle part of the seat is used. There are no armrests on the 3rd row seats.
Also, when doing a build on the Explorer, I do not see where this "fore/aft adjustment" is offered as a selection or mentioned as part of a package.

Hello Peter, looks like the fore/aft adjustment is optional in that it comes with the bucket seats. If you look at a 2012 option list, the bucket seats are only available on the limited and the fore/aft is NA on the xlt.

I noticed that my 2nd row seats clip onto floor mounted anchors. My previous '09 Highlander had the 2nd row slding seats but then again they didn't have the flip up that the Explorer does. To access the 3rd row you just folded the 2nd row seat back to the down position and slid the seat forward from what I can recall.
In any case, there is only me so the driver's seat is the only really important one. The dog rides in back on the cargo mat.

Yes, the 2nd-row bucket seats on the XLT and the Limited are identical, and therefore both slide forward and backward and have the same amount of travel fore/aft.

Also, it’s worth noting that the second row bench seats on the XLT and Limited are slightly different- the bench on the Limited offers an armrest that’s not available on the XLT.

Ive been waiting on mine since a february order. How did you get yours so fast? Was it on the lot?
