My lift gate developed a mind of its own, would open and close for no reason. Turns out it was the key fob. Inside and under each rubber button is a small metal disk. When the button is pushed, the disk makes contact and completes the circuit for the selected feature. The disk on my lift gate button came lose inside the fob, so when it moved around, it triggered the lift gate. I super glued it back in place, works perfectly now. However I did order a new fob without the computer chip.
