2014 Explorer Sport
Hi all! We have a new to us 14 Explorer Sport with 69k miles. Has the upper touch screen and lower Sony touch panel. The AC on/off button on the Sony panel would not work last week. The AC could be turned on/off from the upper touch screen. Had to jump start the battery a day later so installed a new battery. Now the AC on/off button on the Sony panel works. AC concern probably related to the battery/hard reset etc. All accessories worked fine for a couple days after battery replacement. Now the radio will not work. The radio can be turned on from the upper screen or lower Sony panel. There was an "updating" message on the lower left of the upper touch screen. We synced the vehicle with a Wifi signal for 15 minutes with the ignition on. Now the "updating" message is gone. We then downloaded a Sync update through a USB and verified the vehicle has the updated info. Now we will turn on the radio from the top or bottom controls, you will not hear any sound from the speakers, and the radio will shut off after a couple seconds. You can try to press the AM/FM/Sirius buttons before the radio shuts off but it seems like you are locked out. When you turn on the radio from the touchscreen or Sony panel you can hear the "beep" sound. We paired an iPhone and you cannot hear who you are calling through the vehicle speakers. We can get the vehicle to the Bluetooth function for music. The song being played will come up on the touch screen for a couple seconds, then the radio acts like it shuts off. Looking at the iPhone and the song is still being played. The climate control and navigation sections of the touchscreen work properly. We did the ACM self test and the speaker walk around test performed correctly. I can video the radio shutting off by itself if that helps. Tried to be as specific as possible! Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the Forum.
The updating message is a sign that the system is rebooting.
After you replaced the battery did you let the vehicle sit undisturbed for at least 8 hours as per the Manual? Page 334 of the 3rd printing.

After battery replacement, or in some cases after charging the battery with an external charger, the BMS requires eight hours of vehicle sleep time (key off with doors closed) to relearn the new battery state of charge. Prior to relearning state of charge, the BMS may disable electrical features (to protect the battery) earlier than normal.

The radio itself may have an issue. Just guessing. Did you receive any kind of warranty when you bought it?

Hey Peter. Did not. My shop replaced the battery on Friday and everything was fine. It sat over the weekend and on Monday the radio didn't work.
