Hello all,

I am new to the board and new to cars in general. I don't know anything about them except how to check my fluids. But anyway, I just purchased a '93 Explorer Sport and my radio isn't working. Sometimes it will play and then it will get static and go out. When I turn it off and then turn it back on, it'll play sometimes, but the majority of the time it won't. Any ideas as to what's wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Stock or aftermarket radio? If it's stock, I'd say pull it and install an aftermarket head unit. If it's an aftermarket, you could check the connections on the back of the unit. Also, don't forget the stock amplifier mounted in the back cargo area behind the interior panel. It could be going as well. If you go aftermarket, don't forget to bypass the amp. Good luck....

Why would you want to bypass the amp?

because you won't hear anything unless you do...
