Hello! My Explorer has almost 100k miles. Its been fairly reliable since I bought it 8 years ago but little things are starting to go wrong. Ive taken good care of it mechanically and interior.

The Ford mechanic says something big usually goes wrong around 120k so Im nervous to keep it.

Looking at 2020’s v4 turbo engine on a newer one to get better gas mileage for around $30k. Think I can get $14 for mine.

Any insight appreciated!!!

Thank you

30k for a turbo 4 banger in a suv, not sure I’d go that route

Wonder how good the present car would be with 30 k thrown at it.

Agree with above, that would be A financial step back.

Mechanics are good about getting out of work, pushing you toward a new car.

Do you junk a house because the wiring or plumbing is bad?

Have you had to replace the water pump yet?
