2015 Wheels

Just bought 2015 Explorer XLT fwd. I have a set of stock alum. wheels w/snow tires I used on my 2005 Explorer XLT 4x4. The 2005 wheel and tires are 245/65r17 and the 2015 wheel and tires are 245/60r18. The tire diameter is almost identical. The 2005 bolt pattern is 5x4.5, the 2015 is 5x114mm. The patterns are nearly the same. Has anyone tried putting the 2005 wheels on the 2015 Explorer? Not sure about offsets, center holes, etc.

You may have a problem getting a 17" wheel to fit. I used 17" steel wheels in place of the OEM 20" for Winter on my 2011 Limited. However, I believe that partway through the 2013 model year, the size of the brakes was increased on all models. I don't know for sure if the brakes on my MKT are the same as what is on the Explorer but I was told the 17" wheels would not fit on it so I bought 18" wheels for Winter tires. The OEM wheels are 20".
Perhaps there are members who will be able to give you a definite Yes or No.
