2016 - 2018 Explorer Headlight Question

Thank you kind Sir. I feel much better knowing down the road I can swap out several bulbs without having to buy an entire headlight assembly (with the exception of the led lowbeam, that isn't serviceable).

As for the turn signals... still waiting on the rear lights to ship, front ones got installed today. THEY WORK GREAT... but for the hyperflashing. That said, it's only doing it inside the car and flashing perfectly for traffic.

After I get the rear LED and "decoders" installed for the back end, I'll revisit the front and correct as necessary.

[double post--sorry]

Well i do have the hyperflashing inside, but i don't care lol, outside works perfect.

Haha, it's driving me crazy. One extra order from Amazon will fix it, so hey, stuff happens. Good call on the bulb regardless. Quite happy with the result.

haha yeah you just need the resistors and that's it. Are you gonna mount them with screws or aluminum tape?

Hmm, not sure, I didn't even realize that aluminum tape was an option.

I changed my LED high beam recommened by chaz to this one 9005 80W LED Cree and it works amazing, the clarity and patter is excellent, it's 9800 lumens vs 6400.

These are the ones i changed. Now I'm using them for my fog lights replacing these.

For backup lights i recommend these ones., i tried like 3 sets and those were the best ones.

For license plate, these.

Finally, for the puddle lights, these.

Check my attached photos.

For your rear backup lights did you have to install any resistors or anything like that or just pop them in??

Just did the LED high-beam bulb swap last night. Took probably 45 minutes because I had trouble getting my hands in the tight space. I cut a slip in the dust cap just big enough to run the wires through. Very happy so far with the results. Color looks great. I will have to wait till I get a chance to drive at night to give a full review.

What wires?

No resistor needed

Are you saying that you are using 80W bulbs in your Fog lights which were originally rated at 45W?

And 50W LED reversing bulbs that were originally 21W?

Yes sir, LED consumes way less power than halogen bulbs, so if you are worried about power usage then is ok, if you are worried about heat, the fog lights has enough space to cool down, also they don't touch anything nearby.

I bought these:
http://www.amazon.com/Conversion-Headlight-6500K-Brightness-Warranty/dp/B017M57DJG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1456857837&sr=8-2&keywords=evitek 9005&tag=viglink20460-20

There are wires that run to a balast that will have to be zip tied or mounted outside of the headlight housing. The kit I bought actually included 4 zip ties. I'll try to take a picture of them tonight.

Oh. Yeah, I just put the ballasts inside the headlight housing and put the rubber cap back on. They fit inside just fine.

How well do the 9800 lumen led high beams do in terms of distance? I'm running the 6400 evitek's that you replaced and feel they could be better in reaching out as the halogens did. Any pics at night? Does running the fanless led with ribbon bother the rubber cap at all?

Thanks again

I did the LED highbeam conversion and what a PITA it is if you have bigger hands but I got it done.
