2016 Explorer Sport
Hi, I have a 2016 Explorer Sport. The other day after starting the car found the mirrors would not open, front windows would not work, and the climate controls did not work. Tried using 2nd key, made no difference. Checked fuses, all were good. Disconnected battery. After hooking it back up, everything worked. Unfortunately, by disconnecting battery it also wiped possible codes. Has anyone else had this problem and does it reoccure?

I can't confirm whether or not the codes will be cleared. One site I saw in my Internet search said it won't clear OBD2 codes unless the capacitor in the ECU is drained. Another note I saw said that disconnecting the battery will erase the error codes and reset the Check Engine Light.
Did you actually check for codes before ad after?
It is not uncommon for these vehicles loaded with electronics to have the occasional 'hiccup' and several members have cleared issues by disconnecting the battery. Whether it will reoccur is anyone's guess. :dunno:

If you have forscan you could test the modules for hvac etc.

I honestly assume you either have the early signs of a bad battery or underlying issue like corroded cables, grounds etc..

This just happened on our 2017 Limited. The front power windows, side mirrors and climate controls had no power. Everything else worked ok.
I disconnected the battery, hooked it back up and all is working fine now. Hopefully it was just a blip. It has just stood in the garage unused for two weeks. Maybe that had something to do with it?
